The Minneapolis DFL Central Committee will meet on Tuesday the 26th of November, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bottineau Neighborhood Center, 2000 NE Second Street, Minneapolis. The agenda will include action on calling a ward convention for an endorsement for the City Council, Ward 3. (The decision whether to call a special convention belongs to the entire Central Committee. If the Central Committee does not call a convention, but considers the endorsement itself, then only those members who live in the ward can vote on the endorsement.)

As you probably know, Council Member Joe Biernat has resigned in the wake of his conviction yesterday. The special election filling the resulting vacancy will occur on the following schedule:

General Election

I am calling this meeting, which can call a special endorsing convention as early as Friday 6 December (assuming that we can mail out the notice as soon as the meeting adjourns). I am guessing that the convention would occur on Saturday 7 December in the morning, or Monday 9 December in the evening; I have contacted the Ward 3 Coordinators, Olin Moore and Traci Scott, and we will have a recommendation ready for the Central Committee meeting.
