Dear fellow committee member:

    1. December meeting. The Central Committee will meet on Monday the 13th at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium, Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis. I enclose a proposed agenda, which includes planning the upcoming precinct caucuses and conventions.
    2. Electronic distribution list. The City Party has set up an electronic distribution list, open to any interested member. Every official announcement from the City Party will be posted there first. If you are interested in joining the list, please write to me at brian.melendez@usa.net. You can also find information about the City Party — including the constitution, bylaws, and directory, agendas and minutes, and records from past conventions — on Tim Bonham’s webpage at www.mpls.dfl.org.
    3. CD5 Central Committee. The CD5 Central Committee will meet on Tuesday 7 December at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, St. George’s Episcopal Church, 5224 Minnetonka Boulevard, St. Louis Park (not the St. Louis Park Library as previously announced). The agenda will include a forum with candidates for the four state directorships that the State Central Committee will elect at its next meeting, probably in January. The State Convention created these directorships with a view toward better representation on the State Executive Committee from historically underrepresented groups. If you know of anyone who is thinking about running, please encourage them to participate in this forum, whether or not they live in the Congressional District.
    4. Why are you getting this mailing? This mailing is going out to the City Central Committee’s members and alternates, to each candidate endorsed by the City Party, and to each elected official who was elected with the Party’s endorsement and whose district falls wholly or partly within the City. The City Central Committee’s members include the officers, the ward coordinators, the senate districts’ chairs and associate chairs, and the members of the State and Congressional District central committees who live in Minneapolis. The Central Committee’s alternates include the alternates to the State and Congressional District central committees who live in Minneapolis.

Thank you very much. Please write or call me with any questions. I look forward to seeing you on Monday the 13th.

Very truly yours,

Brian Melendez
