City Convention Saturday 15 May 2004 10:00 a.m. (registration opens at 9:00 a.m.) Orpheum Theatre 910 Hennepin Avenue Minneapolis |
Dear delegate or alternate:
This notice is the official call for the Minneapolis City Convention. The agenda includes endorsing three candidates for the Board of Education, electing Party officers, and consideration of the Party constitution.
You are receiving this notice because you were elected as a delegate or an alternate at your precinct caucus to your senate-district convention in March 2004. You are therefore also a delegate or alternate, as the case may be, to the City Convention. If you have moved out of the precinct that elected you in March to another precinct in Minneapolis, then you can still participate in your new precinct as the last alternate.
Pre-Convention Committees
The pre-Convention committees (Arrangements, Credentials, Nominating, and Rules) will meet on Tuesday 4 May at 7:00 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room, Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South Sixth Street, Minneapolis.
Any delegate may volunteer for any pre-Convention committee. Each ward may be represented on any pre-Convention committee by up two delegates. If more than two delegates from the same ward volunteer for the same committee, then that group will voluntarily assign up to two delegates from the ward to the committee. If those delegates cannot assign themselves voluntarily, then that ward’s entire delegation present (including those delegates serving on other committees) will elect their delegates to each committee. Any tie or other indecisive outcome will be decided by lot.
Candidate Forums
The Party is organizing two forums before the Convention where you can meet, hear from, and ask questions of the candidates who are seeking your endorsement:
Thursday 6 May |
Lynnhurst Recreation Center |
Wednesday 12 May |
Webber Recreation Center |
