NCMA - Futurity Rules

Any paid member of the North Central Morgan Association may
nominate a horse in the current year provided the horse is
eligible for nomination in the N.C.M.A. Breeders' Futurity.
A "paid member" is one whose N.C.M.A. membership dues for
the calendar year in which a nomination is to be made have
been either received by the treasurer of N.C.M.A., Inc., on
or before April 15th, or mailed to the treasurer and
postmarked on or before April 15th. Nominees must be owned
by the paid member at the time of nomination.

Any weanling or foal may be nominated m the year in which it
is foaled provided the sire and dam possess American Morgan
Horse Registration Certificates, the sitre's nomination fee
has been paid, and the nomination form and fees are received
by April 15th. Late nomination for weanlings will be
permitted between April 16th and June 1st for a fee of $100
plus the regular nomination fee. This late nomination is
permitted only for the year in which a horse is foaled and
must be postmarked no later than June lst.

A stallion nomination fee of $50 is due by April 15th for
each stallion whose foals are to be nominated for the
weanling Futurity. No nominations will be accepted for any
weanling whose sire has not been nominated. The fee may be paid
by the stallion owner or the owner of the foal. The
stallion nomination fees will become part of the Futurity
purse and be distributed equally among all the Futurity
classes. Nominated stallions will be listed in both the
newsletter and the show program.

No horses is eligible for nomination as a yearling, two or
three year old which was not nominated in the year in which
it was foaled.

No horse may be shown in a Futurity class if the nomination
fee is not paid by April 15th (see exception in rule 2) and
the eligibility fee paid by June 1st of the current year. Late
eligibility is permitted for a fee of $100 plus the regular
eligibility fee. This late eligibility is permitted only for
horses whose nominations are current and the fee must be
paid before the horse is shown per the show rules. Each
horse must be renominated by April 15th of its yearhng, two
and three year old year respectively in order to be shown in
those years.

Any foal originally nominated in the Futurity may be reinstated
as a two or three year old upon payment of the nomination
fee for the year(s) missed plus payment for the current
year.

The nomination fee due April 15th of each year will be
$5.00. A $10.00 per owner office fee must be paid with the
nomination fees. This office fee will be used to cover
expenses incurred in operating the Futurity. If there are
any office fees remaining after all expenses have been
paid, these funds will become part of the Futurity purse.
In the event a member intends to show a nominee in a
Futurity class, an eligibility fee in the amount of $25.00
shall be due on or before June 1st of that year (see
exception in rule 5). Efforts will be made to remind members
of the due date for the eligibility fee. Non-receipt of
such a reminder shall not extend the deadline. It is YOUR
responsibility to get your fees mailed before the deadlines.

Any Futurity entry may be sold, but the new owner must
become a paid member of the N.C.M.A., Inc., on or before the
date that the next Futurity payment is due, or on or before
the date the Futurity class is held, which ever shall first
occur. It is YOUR responsibility as the owner to inform the
Futurity chairperson of changes in ownership.

There will be no restrictions as to who may 'handle' an
entry, provided the owner has complied with the
membership requirements set forth above.

If there are six or more entries shown in the class, the
purse will be divided 40%, 25%, 15%, 10%, 5% and 5%. If there
are less than six entries, the purse will be divided
accordingly. 100% of the purse will be distributed in all
classes. If no entries show in any class, the purse will
be distributed equally among the other classes of that age
group. Payment of the prize money will be by check.

All nomination fees received for Weanlings will be carried
over to their yearling year. Any fees received for
weanlings whose sex is unknown prior to the time of the
yearling classes will be split equally between classes.

There will be two yearling classes: one for colts and
geldings and one for mares.

There will be three divisions in the two year old Futurity:
In Hand, Sport Horse In Hand and Performance.
- Fees: entries will pay a single nomination fee of $5.00 by
April 15th. There will be three separate $25 eligibility
fees dues by June 1st - one for In Hand, one for Sport
Horse In Hand, and one for Performance. An owner may
choose to enter one ($25) two ($40) or three ($56) of
these classes. If a horse is nominated for two or three
divisions, the nomination fee will be split between them.
If the horse is nominated for only one division, the fee
will go that class.
- In Hand: there will be three in-hand classes for two year
olds: mares, colts, and geldings.
- Performance: in harness, the horses will be judged on
performance (50%) and conformation (50%). Any suitable
vehicle may be used and the entry shall be judged on its
suitability to the vehicle. The entry shall be judged on
its way of going and manners.
- Sport Horse In Hand: there will be one sport-horse in-hand
class for eligible two year olds. Classes will be judged
according to AHSA specifications.

There will be three divisions in the three year old Futurity:
Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, and Pleasure Driving.
- Fees: entries will pay a single nomination fee of $5.00 by
April 15th. There will be three separate $25 eligibility
fees dues by June 1st - one for each class. An owner may
choose to enter one ($25) both ($40) or all three ($56) of
these classes. If a horse is nominated for two or three
divisions, the nomination fee will be split between them.
If the horse is nominated for only one division, the fee
will go that class.
- Performance: the horse will be judged on performance (50%)
and conformation (50%). Class specifications for Hunter
Pleasure, Western Pleasure and Pleasure Driving will be
used to judge the classes.

The current year's Futurity fee will be refunded only if the
nominee is deceased or the mare does not foal and the Futurity
committee is notified in writing prior to the Futurity class in
which the nominee has been entered. If the nominee is not shown
for any other reason, the fees paid shall be forfeited.

Registered names and registration numbers must be submitted on or
before April 15th of the Nominee's yearling year. Note: If you
have not received the registration number by April 15th please
notify the Futurity Chairperson in writing. Remember the
Nomination fee is due April 15th whether you have received the
registration number or not.

Absolutely no nominations or payments postmarked after the
deadlines will be accepted except under the exception conditions
outlined in Rules 2 and 5. Entries with metered postmarks
will not be accepted if received after the deadline
dates.
